IMPORTANCE OF THE INTERNAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Internal communication is the way of information delivered through the staff members. It is defined as “the planned use of communication actions to systematically influence the knowledge, attitudes and behaviours of current employees.”(Stauss and Hoffman, 2000).

Bentley’s pet stuff is a retailer of natural food, treats, toys and accessories for dogs and cats. The company share all news through the intranet system. They upload about all processes and procedures, industry-related news, updates of their products, pet-related information and promotions. The important thing is Bentley create a “one-stop-shop” of communication for all teams. Team members interacting with each other daily to share others ideas. It helps to build a good relationship with others.

Methods using in the banking system in Sri Lanka for internal communication

1.      Circulars – Can be known about the new rules and regulations, promotions and new products.

2.     Intranet   - Can get all details about the organization. Can quickly access the staff members.

3.      Team briefing – Gather staff members and discuss the situation.

4.      Social media teams – can post anything and everything that the organization wants to communicate to the staff members.

5.      Memo’s – Official details can be communicated through the Memos.

6.      Bulletins – Specially use by union teams to send messages to the union members.  

Conclusion

Internal communication is one of the main facts that can be influenced the whole organization. Most companies invest a lot of money to develop the external communication system. But not consider internal communication. An organization must develop and review its internal communication systems. Feedback is a very important thing and companies should develop internal communication systems to get high and speed feedbacks from the staff members.
